Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on Oct. 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage.
This year's theme, as proclaimed by the National Fire Protection Association, is: “Charge into fire safety: Lithium-ion batteries in your home.”
In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, the Plymouth Fire Department is hosting an open house this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at its station, located at 111 North Center Street.
Everyone is invited to enjoy a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast with milk, juice, or coffee for a free-will donation.
Learn fire safety tips, tour the fire station, and get up close to fire trucks and equipment.
