A pair of Putnam County women have landed behind bars in the Putnam County Jail for their roles in a July death.
According to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Stacey L. Northington, 35, Van Bibber Lake Estates, and Leanna M. Boles, 33, Van Bibber Lake Estates, have been arrested and booked on charges related to the July 31 death of Bobby McIntosh, 38, Greencastle. According to police, Northington and Boles are married.
McIntosh was found by law enforcement officials lying on the ground in the 3000 block of U.S. 36 West on July 31. Officers responded to a call of an individual in the roadway and found McIntosh, who was transported to an Indianapolis hospital, where he later died. Police then served a search warrant for a vehicle of interest in Van Bibber Lake Estates
What led up to his untimely death however remains a bit of a mystery, according to police and court documents.
A probable cause affidavit states Northington was the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident and she failed to stop at the scene, which resulted in the death of McIntosh.
The couple told police they blew a tire on U.S. 231 and had to change the tire. According to court documents, the pair were captured on a License Plate Reader in Parke County, and police noted the vehicle in question had a spare tire on it while it was observed in Greencastle earlier in the day.
What happened to McIntosh is a bit of a mystery, however.
A Putnam County Sheriff's Detective noted that Northington was operating a vehicle when McIntosh exited, but Northington was also reported to say McIntosh jumped from the vehicle. An autopsy revealed that McIntosh had injuries consistent with falling out of a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed and hitting his head on the road.
Northington was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death or catastrophic injury, a Level 4 felony. Boles was charged with assisting a criminal with the intent to hinder the apprehension or punishment of Northington, a Level 6 felony.
