A new police officer for the Plymouth Police Department was sworn into office on Wednesday morning in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
Plymouth Clerk/Treasurer Lynn Gorski read the oath to 37-year-old Tristan Allen who was recently hired by the city.
Tristan Allen and his wife of 12 years moved to Plymouth from Park Forest, IL about 2 years ago. He was a professional truck driver for Dart Express and was based out of Kirk National Lease Co. on Markley Drive. Allen also served his county through the Army National Guard and was a combat engineer.
Tristan Allen told GIANT fm WTCA he has no previous experience of being a police officer but has always wanted to be one and when the position opened in the Plymouth Police Department, he decided at 37 years of age it was time to pursue his dream.
Allen is currently in Field Training with three officers from the Plymouth Police Department and will also take the 40-hour pre-basic course required for any law enforcement position. The plan is to get him into the Law Enforcement Academy early in 2025 for their 16-week course.
