new Jersey man arrested by city police for marijuana

An officer with the Plymouth Police Department arrested a New Jersey man Tuesday night after clocking him speeding on U.S. 30.

At approximately 9:00 pm on June 17th, the city officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. 30 at Oak Drive. The vehicle was pulled over for going 70 mph in a 50 mph zone.

During the traffic stop, the Plymouth K9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted for the odor of narcotics. A vehicle search was conducted, and a plant-like substance believed to be marijuana was located.

The driver, 22-year-old Isaac Tamilio of New Jersey, was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail at 9:38 for Possession of Marijuana. His cash bond was paid at 10:15 p.m. and he was released on bond with a court date.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
