New barber shop set to open in Greencastle

Trexler said the idea of Jake's Barber Co. was developed out of his desire to provide a classic barber shop experience.

Greencastle resident Jake Trexler always knew what he wanted when it came to a profession. 

"As a teen, I told my mom I was either going to become a barber or a pastor," Trexler told The Putnam County Post. 

Turns out, he has been able to do both. Jackson once served as a pastor and now is opening Jake's Barber Co., 16 South Jackson St., Greencastle. The barber shop is set to open August 19 and will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be booked at jakesbarberco.com. 

"Before pursuing barbering, I worked as a pastor in the community and grew to care deeply about the people who live here. For me, it's about the people. I wanted to build something that the community would be drawn to because they found a place where they could belong," Trexler said. 

Trexler said the idea of Jake's Barber Co. was developed out of his desire to provide a classic barber shop experience with an emphasis on customer care. 

"I enjoy cutting hair, but more than that, I want every person that comes into the shop to know that we are excited to see them and connect with them. I am very excited for all of the people who do not have a regular barber/stylist yet to get to experience the tradition of barbering at JBC. 

He said haircuts, beard trims and shaves are very important for a simple reason. 

"When we get cleaned up, we often feel more confident and like ourselves," said Trexler, who will be joined by Teddy Waggoner, who is a barber. 

As for what someone can expect when they book a haircut, Trexler said customers can expect to be treated like family. 

"They can expect a warm greeting as they walk through the door and then a detailed consultation and quality haircut experience.
