A deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was stop checking the speeds of drivers on U.S. 30 between Oak and Pioneer Drive Friday and clocked a vehicle at 101 miles per hour.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. Friday, Deputy Williams was running stationary radar on U.S. 30 when a vehicle traveling at 101 mph in a posted 50 mph zone passed him.
A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and 19-year-old Angie Hesham Atef Mohamed of Minnesota, the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody. She was booked into the Marshall County Jail at 12:45 a.m. with a $100 cash bond for reckless driving. She was released at 1:25 a.m. after posting her bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
