Mendez-Montalvo arrested OWI almost 4 times the legal limit

An off-duty police officer with the Plymouth Police Department was headed west on Lincoln Highway Sunday morning, October 20^th at about 12:35 when he observed a vehicle recklessly traveling east on Lincoln Highway and crossing the line. 

A traffic stop was conducted by Corporal Schieber in the 15,000 block of Lincoln Highway and the driver was identified as Arturo Mendez-Montalvo of Plymouth.  Mendez-Montalvo showed signs of impairment and was detained pending further investigation.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where a translator assisted with the sobriety testing.  

Mendez-Montalvo was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth for jail clearance his alcohol level was found to be nearly 4x's the legal limit.

Mendez-Montalvo was booked into jail for pending misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle without a license, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated over .15.  

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
