An off-duty police officer with the Plymouth Police Department was headed west on Lincoln Highway Sunday morning, October 20th at about 12:35 when he observed a vehicle recklessly traveling east on Lincoln Highway and crossing the line.
A traffic stop was conducted by Corporal Schieber in the 15,000 block of Lincoln Highway and the driver was identified as Arturo Mendez-Montalvo of Plymouth. Mendez-Montalvo showed signs of impairment and was detained pending further investigation. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where a translator assisted with the sobriety testing.
Mendez-Montalvo was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth for jail clearance his alcohol level was found to be nearly 4x's the legal limit.
Mendez-Montalvo was booked into jail for pending misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle without a license, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated over .15.
