The Shelbyville Central Schools board approved a 10-cent rate increase for student lunches in the 2025-2026 school year.
The price increase is for student lunches only. The school system will still offer universal breakfast for all students at no cost to the student.
Parents are encouraged to complete the free and reduced application form if they believe they qualify for free and reduced lunches. The application will be available the first week of July.
Here are the costs of lunches for the upcoming school year:
- $2.80 at elementary school students
- $2.90 for middle school students
- $2.90 for high school students
- $5 for adults
In other board business Tuesday:
- Approved an overnight field trip for the high school boys basketball program to Indiana Wesleyan University in Marian, Ind., to compete in the Super Hoops Team Camp from June 27-29.
- Approved an overnight field trip for sixth and seventh graders to Pathfinder Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, from March 13-16 in 2026.
