Danielle Longmire, 24, of Rochester, was sentenced last week to 365 days on house arrest and 545 days on probation after she used her three young children to scam locals by going door-to-door with fake fundraisers.
A Rochester woman was sentenced to a year on house arrest and 545 days on probation last week after she accepted a plea deal for her role in scamming multiple Fulton County residents with fake fundraisers.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Danielle Longmire had went door-to-door with her three young children collecting donations for baseball, Cub Scout and school fundraisers that were not valid, pocketing the money. Victims of the scam claimed Longmire had gone as far as to change the amount given on checks for the fundraiser, cashing them at the bank. Longmire had also stolen an elderly victim's entire checkbook, fraudulently writing additional checks that she attempted to cash at Flagstaff bank in Rochester.
On May 20, 2024, Longmire was arrested and booked at the Fulton County Jail on charges of counterfeiting, two counts of fraud and five counts of theft with a prior conviction, all Level 6 felonies. Longmire was initially held without bond due to being arrested on probation, and while she was on release for charges of theft and exploitation of a dependent.
After taking a plea deal, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, Longmire was eventually sentenced to 365 days on home detention, 545 days probation and 72 hours of community service for a counterfeit charge. Five felony charges of theft were dismissed due to the plea deal. Longmire was also ordered to pay a total of $485 in restitution to seven of the victims she had scammed from the fake fundraisers.
