The Lawrenceville City Council met for a brief special session Monday and did vote to adopt a resolution to implement a city employee return-to-work policy.
The legislation covers all city workers who are injured on the job and then are assigned light duty work while they recover in order to return to their full-time position. The past policy process was never spelled out in detail and was needed in writing by the city for insurance purposes. The resolution does not affect the city police department through union negotiation. The council discussed the policy and asked questions of city attorney Michael Neal before passing it by a unanimous vote. It goes into effect immediately.
