The Second Judicial Circuit recently announced that Lawrence County has been awarded a technology modernization grant through the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Courts Administrative Office.
It is the third consecutive year that the county court system has received funding through the grant program. The 2023-24 grant is for $46,564. Resident County Judge Michael Strange and Lawrence County Circuit Clerk Cheryl Winkles collaborated to obtain the money which will be used for computer upgrades, new printers, a courtroom copier and a live fingerprint scanning device along with other needed improvements. The Second Circuit is comprised of Lawrence and 11 other counties in southeastern Illinois
