Two local men were arrested in separate incidents in Lawrence County Thursday.
66-year-old Thomas Atkins was taken into custody by the Illinois State Police and was charged with multiple offenses.
Preliminary charges include 2 counts of Driving Under the Influence (DUI)-Alcohol, Speeding (over the statutory limit), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance. No details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest were given in the report.
Atkins was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and was released with a notice to appear in court.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested 30-year-old Mikenze Valledor of St Francisville for Cruelty to Animals. No details on the arrest were included in the report.
Valledor was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held there pending a detention hearing.
