Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore announced the relaunch of the Kokomo Infill Program aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods by transforming vacant lots with new homes where blighted structures once stood.
The City of Kokomo opened a similar housing program in 2024, resulting in 25 new residential construction projects completed or ongoing.
The Kokomo Infill Program will utilize vacant lots owned or maintained by the Kokomo Community Development Corporation, and offer them free to developers who must sign a development agreement which requires a completed, residential structure built within one year.
“We are looking to build new, single family homes on dozens of vacant lots scattered throughout the city,” said Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore. “We are turning decades-long, vacant eyesores into new affordable housing for Kokomo families.”
The program is open to small and large-scale developers, individuals and businesses. Preference will be given to developers who can demonstrate financial ability and construction experience.
