The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that the tornado earlier this week in Knox County (Indiana) was E-F-1, with winds estimated as high as 100 mph. It stayed on the ground for 1 1/2 miles and cut a path 150 yards wide.
The twister touched down around 3 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 12th in trees near Mariah Creek east of U.S. 41 and then traveled over Indiana State Road 550 and two other county roads before lifting. It extensively damaged a barn near the Hollingsworth Road and uprooted and destroyed several trees. There were no injuries.
