Dockery promoted to First Sergeant, Assistant Dist. Commander of Bremen Post

Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott recently announced the promotion of Sergeant Mick Dockery to the rank of First Sergeant, where he will serve as the Assistant District Commander of the Bremen Post. First Sergeant Dockery earned this promotion through completion of written testing and a competitive interview process.

Dockery is a graduate of Eastbrook High School in Marion. Following high school, he attended Taylor University on a football scholarship for three years. He later attended Indiana Tech University, where he graduated summa cum laude, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Dockery was assigned to the Bremen Post after graduating from the Indiana State Police 58^th Recruit Academy in December of 1999. He has also spent time as a Gaming Agent with the Indiana Gaming Commission.

During his tenure with the Indiana State Police, Dockery has been a K9 handler, field training officer, emergency vehicle operations instructor, defensive tactics instructor, diver on the Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT), and a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP). Dockery has also had temporary assignments to investigations and to the Drug Enforcement Section (DES). He has also held certifications as a Level III Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspector and has been a Special Operations K9 Master Trainer. Dockery was promoted to serve as a Squad Sergeant in February 2024 before this most recent promotion.

Dockery has had his work recognized for keeping Indiana’s roadways safe from drunk drivers by receiving the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award in 2001, 2004, and 2020.  In 2020, Dockery was awarded with DUI Life Award, DUI District Award, as well as being named the Trooper of the District and Trooper of the Year. Dockery was recognized in 2021 with the District DUI Award and Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Traffic Safety All Stars Award. He is also the recipient of a Combat Action Award for his courageous at-risk performance in the line of duty, which occurred during a hostage barricaded situation that occurred in 2009, and a Gold Star recipient in 2020 for his performance with distinction, gallantry, and courage in the performance of his duties where he ran into a house fire, two separate times, to save the lives of two individuals who were trapped inside.

Sergeant Dockery resides in St. Joseph County with his wife, Heather, and their four children.
