Indiana SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) has announced that the Shelbyville High School SADD chapter was selected to receive the prestigious 2023-24 New Chapter of the Year, Jim Noffsinger Legacy Award.
The award recognizes the chapter’s exceptional commitment to promoting safe and healthy decision making among students.
Shelbyville SADD, led by faculty advisor Kim Ferguson (photo, left) and with more than 80 active members, was presented the award Wednesday morning in the Golden Bear Room.
“We are thrilled to recognize Shelbyville High School SADD for their outstanding efforts and achievements,” said Mark R. Kaser, Indiana State SADD Coordinator. “Their dedication to fostering a safe and supportive environment for their peers is truly inspiring, and we are proud to honor them with this award.”
The Jim Noffsinger Legacy Award is named in memory of Jim Noffsinger, a dedicated advocate for youth safety and a long-time supporter of SADD. This award is given annually to a SADD chapter that has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to healthy decision making within their school and community.
Indiana SADD is a statewide organization dedicated to creating, equipping, and sustaining a network of student-led chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education. Indiana SADD aims to prevent substance misuse and create a healthier and safer world, one positive decision at a time.
