The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has announced that an election will be held later in October for board members to fill vacancies in two districts of the Illinois Wheat Development Board (IWDB) and to select one statewide At-Large board member.
There have been no formal petitions filed by any candidates for the vacant positions so producers of wheat residing in those districts can participate in the election scheduled for Wednesday, October 28th as write-in candidates. Producers must be of legal voting age, reside in the district for which they are running and be a qualified producer of wheat. At-Large write-in candidates can reside in any of the IWDB districts across the state.
In-person voting will take place at county Farm Bureau offices across Illinois during normal business hours.
One of the vacant positions is in District lll which includes Lawrence, Richland, Jasper, Crawford and twelve other counties in central and southeastern Illinois.
For additional election information, call the IDOA at (217) 524-1083 or the Illinois Wheat Association at (309) 557-3619.
