Rochester will be on the road in IHSAA football quarterfinal play as the Zebras go after the program’s first sectional title since 2000.
Rochester (7-1) will travel to Elwood (2-6) on October 24 for opening round action in 2A Sectional 36. With a win, Rochester would play the winner of the top bracket quarterfinal featuring undefeated Eastbrook at Alexandria (6-2).
Alexandria lost at Eastbrook 34-24 on September 12.
The bottom of the bracket has Eastern (Greentown) (7-1) playing at winless Blackford.
Eastern eliminated Rochester in last year’s sectional semifinal, 28-24, on the way to the Comets first ever sectional title.
The final matchup in the opening round has Wabash (1-7) at Tipton (4-4).
1A Sectional 42
Caston (2-6) will be at home against Hoosier North conference foe Pioneer on October 24.
Pioneer (7-1) defeated Caston 45-13 on September 12.
The winner will face the winner of the game with undefeated Frontier vs Tri-County (1-7)
Also in Sectional 42, Carroll (Flora) (5-2) plays at Winamac (2-6) and North White (2-6) will travel to Taylor (5-2)
3A Sectional 26
#12 Tippecanoe Valley will spend two hours on the bus to get to the Vikings first round football matchup at Angola (4-4).
The winnr advances to face the winner of the Fort Wayne Concordia (1-7) – West Noble (6-2) quarterfinal.
1A Sectional 41
Culver (2-6) will host LaVille (4-4) on October 24 in a football quarterfinal.
The winner is likely to get North Judson (7-1). The Bluejays are on the road first round to play winless South Central (Union Mills).
