With the extreme heat and heat index values expected to range from 98 to 102 degrees on Wednesday in Marshall County, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory, effective from 2 p.m. on Wednesday and continuing until 8 p.m.
The city and towns across Marshall County have set up cooling centers:
BOURBON: Town Hall, 104 East Park Avenue. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours, the Bourbon Police Department lobby, located at 224 North Main Street, will be available.
BREMEN: Town Hall, 111 South Center Street. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours, the Bremen Police Department lobby, located at 123 South Center Street, will be available.
CULVER: Culver Beach Lodge at 819 East Lakeshore Drive is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Culver Town Hall is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After hours, the Culver Police Department lobby, located at 200 East Washington Street, will be available.
PLYMOUTH: The Conservation Clubhouse at 720 North Magnetic Parkway is open throughout the week. Contact the Plymouth Park Department at 574-936-2876, and they will unlock the door for you.
Impacts from the hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Citizens are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid the sun, and check on relatives, neighbors, and animals and pets.
