Halloween is almost here and law enforcement authorities in both Knox County (Ind.) and Lawrence County (Ill.) are asking parents and guardians of young children out trick-or-treating to use caution and be vigilant.
Safety experts say that new research shows that on average, twice as many child pedestrians are struck and killed while walking on Halloween compared to other days of the year.
Parents are reminded to never let children under 12 years of age trick-or-treat separately. They should travel in adult supervised groups and only visit familiar neighborhoods and homes. Children should be dressed in appropriately safe costumes that are flame retardant. Any candy received should be thoroughly checked before eaten.
Here are the Trick-or-Treat hours locally:
Vincennes--Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st from 6 until 8 p.m. ET both days.
Sumner--Saturday, October 31st 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Lawrenceville, Bridgeport, and St. Francisville-Saturday, October 31st from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
