A Fort Wayne man was arrested on Friday after being stopped for traffic violations and officers locating a Schedule I controlled substance in the vehicle.
Deputy Matt Geiger with the Sheriff’s Department stopped a Chevrolet Equinox on U.S. 30 at State Road 331 after observing traffic violations.
The driver of the vehicle was 45-year-old Cartrelle Sullivan of Ft. Wayne. During the officer’s investigation, it was found that Sullivan had a suspended license, was in possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and had marijuana in the vehicle.
Sullivan was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was booked in for Possession of a controlled substance and of marijuana and held on a $1,500 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury, at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
