The Plymouth Park Department and the Maxinkuckee Players are partnering to bring Shakespeare to the community with a free outdoor performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" this spring.

The production will take place at River Park Square on Saturday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. The performance is free to the public, with a free-will donation opportunity to support the Maxinkuckee Players.

The Maxinkuckee Players are holding auditions for the production this weekend at the LifePlex in the second-floor conference room.

Audition times are this Friday, February 20th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 21st, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Those interested in auditioning can email maxplayersandsingers@gmail.com to receive a monologue to prepare for the audition.

The Plymouth Park Department is excited to host the outdoor Shakespeare production as part of its spring programming.

The collaboration brings live theater to a unique outdoor venue in downtown Plymouth, making Shakespeare accessible to the entire community at no cost.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is one of William Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, featuring a magical forest, mischievous fairies, young lovers, and a group of amateur actors. The play's themes of love, magic, and transformation make it a popular choice for outdoor summer productions.

The play follows multiple interconnected storylines involving the Duke of Athens, four young Athenian lovers caught in a complicated romantic entanglement, a group of amateur actors preparing a play, and the fairy king and queen whose magical interference creates chaos and comedy.

The Maxinkuckee Players is a community theater group that produces plays and musicals throughout the year, bringing quality live performances to the area.
