On Sunday, March 5th, (2023) at approximately 8:30 in the evening, a Deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of US 31 and 11th Road.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 47-year-old Jennifer Poirier of the 800 block of Jackson Heights Road in Plymouth. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Anthony Norris Jr. of South Bend.
During the traffic stop, Marshall County K9 Officer Diesel conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotic odors in the vehicle. Suspected cocaine was located inside the vehicle.
Jennifer Poirier and Anthony Norris Jr. were transported to the Marshall County Jail. Jennifer was booked for Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug and held on a $1,500 cash bond. Anthony was booked for his active warrant and held on a $2,700 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
