Marshall County Police arrested a suspect believed to have used counterfeit coins to make a purchase in LaPaz.
On August 1, the Marshall County Sheriff's Department obtained information that an unknown male subject had purchased items from a LaPaz business and paid with $1 silver coins. It was later found that the coins were counterfeit.
Officer Rob Hafke utilized sophisticated criminal techniques to identify the suspect allegedly involved. A case report was forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office for review.
An arrest warrant was issued for Joseph B. Daigle, 62, of Plymouth. On Tuesday, Officer Hafke went to the suspect's address and arrested him. Daigle was transported to the Marshall County Jail, booked in for counterfeiting as a Level 6 felony. He was held on $3,000 cash bond.
