Local and area law enforcement authorities are warning local businesses to be on the lookout after reports of counterfeit $100 bills being circulated around the region.
The fake bills are easy to recognize as they are marked with the words "For Motion Picture Purposes Only." All business owners and personnel should carefully inspect all large bills received during the busy and hectic Christmas holiday shopping season.
Counterfeit money has been discovered in Fairfield, Carmi, Mt. Carmel and Olney. Federal officials have been notified and are involved with the investigation. Again, businesses are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious currency to the nearest law enforcement agency immediately.
