Yesterday, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) participated in his first House Ways and Means Committee hearing. The hearing focused on the importance of making the Trump tax cuts permanent for working families.
Congressman Yakym began his remarks by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to serve on the committee and advocate for pro-growth tax, regulatory, and trade policies.
Congressman Yakym discussed the impact of the Trump tax cuts in Indiana's Second District, "The Trump tax cuts have been transformational for families and small businesses in my district. If they expire, the average taxpayer in my district will see a 27% tax hike – $1,252 for the average family of four in my district. That cannot be written off as mere crumbs. It’s real money for the average hardworking Hoosier family that’s trying to live within its means."
Congressman Yakym focused his line of questioning on the extension of the Child Tax Credit. He emphasized that work and Social Security number requirements are crucial to claim the credit to ensure hardworking American families receive the benefit rather than illegal immigrants.
