Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) voted to condemn and denounce socialism in all its forms, including the recent rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
"I never thought I'd see the day when the majority of Democrats would say out loud that they embrace socialism. But here we are," Rep. Yakym said. "History has shown that socialism undermines the American Dream and fails again and again. I'm proud that House Republicans rejected it today and stood firm on the values that made America the greatest nation on earth."
The DSA's platform includes abolishing the nation's borders, abolishing prisons, defunding the police, abolishing the U.S. Senate, and removing the president.
The resolution:
-
Condemns and denounces socialism in all its forms, including the DSA
-
Reaffirms support for free, fair, and secure elections
-
Reiterates that American elections are for American citizens only
-
Recommits the House to upholding the Constitution
-
Calls for enactment of the SAVE America Act
