In November, the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids for a special Sidewalk Program to be completed this summer using the city’s American Rescue Plan funds. These funds had to be appropriated by the end of 2024 and spent by the end of 2025.
The projects are underway, with many completed. Projects include sidewalks on South Michigan Street from Family Express to Dollar General (1)

and along Michigan Street from Lemler Street to Jackson Heights Road (2).

The next project is next to Webster Elementary School, on Lemler Street from South Michigan Street to Bayless Street (3).

Other sidewalk projects are underway on Washington Street, from the Park Jefferson Apartments to Beerenbrook Street (4),

and from Beerenbrook Street to Fifth Street (5).

The engineer's estimate for these sidewalk projects was $291,500, and Phend & Brown had the lowest bid at $330,861.
City Engineer Dan Sellers and Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt collaborated on creating these projects, which involve adding additional sidewalks to the city of Plymouth.
The city slightly delayed the project to work around the summer school program.
