There will be no side-by-side vehicles on the streets of the city of Lawrenceville for now. This after the City Council voted Thursday to not include them in the golf cart ordinance already in place.

There were some residents who wanted to see those types of vehicles allowed, but after a lengthy discussion, the council voted 5-4 to not make the inclusion due to safety and other factors.

They did move to approve on second reading the annual Appropriation Ordinance for $6.9 million in city spending. Also given approval was a resolution for the allocation of $300,000 of motor fuel tax money for city street repairs.

The city will also seek a grant for the construction of about 2.65 miles of sidewalks through the ITEP program with the firm of Milano and Grunloh spearheading the effort.
