The Howard County Fire Chief’s have convened and decided a county wide burn ban should be instituted and made effective immediately.
This decision is based upon the dry conditions, lack of rain predicted in the 7-day forecast, and recent call volume due to field fires.
This is a collaborated decision among the fire chiefs as a proactive approach to reduce field fires, brush fires, and the loss of property.
The burn ban will remain in effect until the Howard County Fire Chief’s reconvene on October 20 to review the current conditions.
