The past two Saturdays, volunteers have been working on the Unite Garden on Harrison Street in Plymouth. During these work events, they also held a “Best Dandelion of Marshall County” contest.
There were 10 entries in the contest and the competition was fierce. Harold Diedrich from the Purdue Master Gardeners in Marshall County said, “It was hard to pick as each plant had some great qualities. We got it down to the best four and awarded shirts and garden bags to each.”
Winners were William Ennis, Don Hinsdsle, Avery Binfet, and the Pickett Family. Participants in the contest were of all ages from 8 years old up to and including being retired.
Diedrich said, “We hope to generate more volunteers for the Unity Garden and are looking forward to next year's competition.”
