During National Volunteer Month in April, the American Red Cross encourages donors to help maintain a stable blood supply by making an appointment to donate blood now. Type O blood and platelets are particularly needed to ensure that hospitals are fully stocked with lifesaving blood products this spring.
The Red Cross relies on thousands of volunteer donors to collect over 12,000 blood donations each day. Blood drives and donation centers also rely on the generosity and valuable time of those who make it possible for the Red Cross to assist people in need.

The next upcoming blood donation opportunities with the Red Cross in Marshall County will be on May 1st at Culver Academies in the Schrag Leadership Building at 1300 Academy Road from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
