Award-Winning audiobook narrator Julia Whelan to speak at The REES Theatre

The Plymouth Public Library is inviting the community to an unforgettable literary experience featuring award-winning author and celebrated audiobook narrator Julia Whelan. The special event will take place at The REES Theatre on Tuesday, April 21, at 5:00 p.m.

Whelan is the recognized voice behind more than 700 audiobooks, including popular titles such as The Women, People We Meet on Vacation, Funny Story, and Atmosphere. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to meet the woman behind the voice during an engaging and interactive program.

The evening will feature a live reading from one of Whelan's narrated books, stories from her dual career as an author and narrator, and a discussion on current challenges in the publishing and narration industry, including the rise of artificial intelligence. The program will conclude with an audience Q&A session and a book signing.

Plymouth Public Library officials expressed excitement about offering the event at no cost to the community.

"Meeting a real, working author makes books feel personal and alive," organizers noted. "When community members interact with the creators behind the stories, literature becomes more meaningful and accessible. Hearing about Julia’s personal journey, challenges, and successes helps attendees see themselves reflected in the world of storytelling."

While the event is free, all attendees must have a ticket to help organizers manage attendance. Ticket distribution will begin on April 7 at the Plymouth Public Library and will be available while supplies last. As an added bonus, each ticket number will be entered into a special drawing.

Any remaining tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event. Tickets can be secured through Eventbrite, in person at Na Rie Simple Treasures (104 N. Michigan St.), or at The Everwise Box Office at The REES on the night of the program.
