A mayor from south-central Illinois has thrown his hat into the ring for the 102nd district state representative race. James Acklin this week announced his campaign as a write-in candidate for the Republican nomination in the March 19th primary. Acklin is married and has three adult children. He is currently the acting mayor of the village of Ogden in Champaign County. He will face opposition from incumbent Adam Niemerg who is also a write-in for the 102nd nomination. The state board of elections ruled against Niemerg being on the ballot based on some campaign filing issues.
