Shelbyville junior Ava Muckerheide qualified for the IHSAA Tennis State Singles Tournament Finals with a pair of regional victories Saturday at Indianapolis North Central High School.
In a semifinal round match, Muckerheide defeated Jennings County’s Kaydence Lowman, 6-4, 6-2.
In the other semifinal, Hagerstown’s Sophia Tinkle topped Franklin Central’s Maren Paris, 6-1, 7-5.
In the championship, Muckerheide secured another straight-set victory, 7-5, 6-3 over Tinkle.
The singles tournament state championship matches will be played Friday and Saturday at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis.
Muckerheide (17-2) will be joined by fellow regional champions Allison Landry (18-0) of Greencastle, Sophia Gamez (16-4) of Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, and Chloe Wendowski (13-1) of Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory.
Also still eligible for singles competitions after the conclusion of the team state tournament are North Central’s Brooke Ratcliff (16-3), Center Grove’s Sophia Heck (16-1), Munster’s Priyanka Tallamraju (16-0), Homestead’s Caroline Meier (15-5) and Penn’s Olivia Wu (18-1).
The bracket for the state singles tournament has not yet been released.
