Shelbyville High School’s boys golf team finished third Friday at the Greensburg Sectional to qualify for Thursday’s Providence Regional.
The top three teams at the sectional and the top three individuals not on an advancing team earned berths in the regional event that will be played at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville.
Batesville captured the sectional title with a 311. Columbus North was runner-up, five shots back at 316. The Golden Bears were third at 334, one shot ahead of East Central.
Waldron (380) finished ninth at the 14-team sectional. Southwestern (395) placed 11th.
Waldron’s Blake Bryant was one of three individuals to advance. He shot 79 to secure the second of three advancing positions. Hauser’s Bill Miller (75) and Greensburg’s Logan Simpson (81) also advanced out of the sectional.
Shelbyville was led by Logan Reinhart’s 77. Ethan Hughes followed at 84. Carter Dunagan posted an 85. Logan Tobian shot 88 and Kameron Holland finished at 95.
Bryant topped Waldron’s scorecard. He was followed by Charlie Fischer’s 86. Completing the Waldron scorecard were Lincoln Fischer (103), Owen Hartman (112) and Nicholas Evans (115).
Josh Karr and Levi McInerny each shot 95 to lead Southwestern. Also competing for the Spartans were Eli Smith (101), Colton Bitner (104) and Landon Fix (108).
Greenfield-Central Sectional
Triton Central and Morristown compete today at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield to earn berths in the Yorktown Regional which will be played Thursday at The Players Club in Muncie.
The 11-team sectional also includes Blue River Valley, Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Knightstown, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, New Palestine, Shenandoah and Tri.
