OAKLAND CITY SECOND IN NCCAA BASEBALL

It was a heartbreaking day Wednesday for the Oakland City Mighty Oaks baseball team.

They were one win away from claiming the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series title at Kansas City Missouri. But the top seeds lost two games to Southwestern Christian University Eagles out of Bethany Oklahoma by scores of 10-6 and 6-5  and finish second. The Oaks had beaten Southwestern Christian earlier in the tournament. Former Lawrenceville Indian and freshman Leyton Ivers batted leadoff in both games for Oakland City. He was 1 for 5 and scored a run in the first game loss and then went 1 for 4 with a walk and scored two runs in the championship game. The losses cap a 45-18 season for the Mighty Oaks.
