The Casey-Westfield Lady Softball Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead early and then held off a late charge to beat the Lawrenceville Lady Indians 6-3 Friday at Phil Alsman Field in Lawrenceville.
The loss was the second in a row for the squad, who are now 3-5. The Lady Indians scored their 3 runs on 5 hits. Allie Evans went 2 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with a walk and 2 strikeouts to take the pitching loss. The Lady Indians are right back at it Saturday as they play three games at South Central.
They meet the hosts at 9 a.m. and then play New Athens at 10:45 a.m. before a third game TBD.
