The Lawrenceville Cross Country Indians were among the participants in the multi-team Olney Invitational meet Saturday.
The boys finished 10th as a team in a field of 16 full teams with 242 points. Herrin won the meet with 54 points, followed by Olney (Richland County), Georgetown and Mattoon. The Indians did have Braydan Morrison finish in the top 20. He was 12th in a time of 17:16.38. Walter Eberwein was 31st in a time of 18:11.94. Both received medals for their finishes by finishing in the top 50.
The girls did not have enough runners to compete as a team but did compete as individuals. Lexi Brooke crossed first for the Lady Indians as she was 18th in a time of 21:26.29 and Laurel Buchanon finished 30th. Both young ladies received medals for their finishes in the top 50 runners.
The team will travel to Newton for a meet Thursday and then return home for the final home meet of the season Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the City Park course. It will be Senior Day with four to be honored prior to the race.
