Shelbyville matched its win total from the 2025 season with a 41-20 win Friday at Speedway.
The Golden Bears improved to 5-3 overall and 3-3 against Hoosier Legends Conference opponents.
Speedway lost its fifth straight to fall to 3-5 (1-5 HLC).

Shelbyville quarterback Tyler Gwinnup (photo) threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more in a game where the Golden Bears never trailed.

Shelbyville struck first when Gwinnup connected with Austin Martzall (photo) for a 20-yard scoring strike and a 7-0 lead.
Amari Forbes broke off a 30-yard rushing touchdown for Speedway but the two-point conversion failed.

Grantland Fitzgerald (photo) then scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns to extend Shelbyville’s lead to 14-6. The senior followed his 32-yard touchdown run with a 2-yard run in the second quarter that gave the Golden Bears a 21-6 halftime advantage.
Gwinnup had his first of two 1-yard rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to open the lead to 28-6.
Speedway quarterback Conner Battle connected with Mazeed Ishola for a 72-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was successful, and the Sparkplugs were within two touchdowns, 28-14.

Shelbyville scored the next two touchdowns – the first a Camden Thoman (photo) 6-yard pass from Gwinnup and then the senior quarterback’s second scoring run to push the lead to 41-14.
Ishola secured a 27-yard touchdown pass from Battle late in the game to set the final score.
Shelbyville will seek its sixth win of the season in the regular-season finale next Friday.
The Golden Bears will host Monrovia (3-5, 2-4 HLC), a 40-35 winner over Greenwood Friday.
It is the first-ever meeting with the Bulldogs and it will be Senior Night at McKeand Stadium.
