Class 2A, No. 12 Monrovia ground up 2A No. 5 Triton Central Friday night, 35-21, to move to the top of the Indiana Crossroads Conference standings.
The Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0 ICC) rushed for five touchdowns and built a 28-0 lead before the Tigers (2-2, 1-1 ICC) scored.
Jozy Hand had scoring runs of three, two and six yards which helped Monrovia take a 28-0 lead in the third quarter. Noah Bryant also had a late first-quarter touchdown run of eight yards on a fourth-down play.
Triton Central’s first points came on a Sam Collier to Zeke Robertson 10-yard scoring strike late in the third quarter.
Monrovia answered right back with a drive that culminated with Ryder Pool rushing into the end zone from eight yards out.
Collier connected with Chase Chandler at the 6:44 mark of the fourth quarter and the Tigers recovered the onside kick.
Collier collected his third touchdown throw of the game with a 52-yard catch and run by Braden Brown that set the final score.
Monrovia and Speedway, a 29-23 overtime winner over Indianapolis Ritter Friday, are the only unbeatens in the ICC standings after two weeks. Triton Central, 2A No. 4 Indianapolis Lutheran (3-1, 1-1), Beech Grove (2-2, 1-1) and Indianapolis Scecina (1-3, 1-1) are tied while Ritter (1-2, 0-2) and Covenant Christian (0-4, 0-2) are still searching for their first conference victories.
Triton Central hosts Covenant Christian next week.
