The Casey-Westfield Warriors ran for three touchdowns in the second quarter Friday night to break a 6-6 tie and went on to beat the Lawrenceville Indians 40-20 at Sinclair-Vidoni Field in Casey.

The Tribe took the early lead in the first quarter 6-0 on a Blayton Gossett to Ethan Metz 55-yard touchdown pass at the 10:49 mark, but things went downhill after that. The hosts scored the tying TD late in the quarter and were even with the Indians at 6 after one.

The Warriors scored in the second quarter on two 17-yard TD runs along with a short 4-yard plunge sandwiched around an 8-yard TD catch by the Indians' Luke Schultz to take the lead 28-12 at the half, a lead they would never relinquish.

Casey-Westfield scored a lone touchdown in the third quarter to lead 34-12 after three. Schultz scored his second TD on the night for the Indians in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 34-20 before the Warriors capped the evening with a short TD run with just over 4 minutes remaining.

The loss was the fifth in a row for the Indians who stand at 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the Little Illini Conference (LIC) play. Casey-Westfield improved to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the LIC.

The Indians return home to Ed Loeb Field in Lawrenceville on Friday, September 25th to host the Robinson Maroons in LIC action. Elsewhere in the Little Illini:
