Wilson E. Gerrard, 100, of Plymouth

Wilson E. Gerrard, 100, was ushered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Pilgrim Manor. Born on January 19, 1926 in Plymouth, Wilson was the son of Clay and Gladys (Wilson) Gerrard.

To help his family, Wilson started working at McCord’s at the age of 17. His boss at the time gave him a chance and was incremental in steering his career path as he got older. When enrollment opened for Indiana Vocational Tech School, Wilson enrolled in learning the trades which was pivotal in his career. After dedicating twenty-one years to McCord’s, he then went on devote an additional twenty-five years to Indiana Tool until his retirement in 1991.

Wilson’s dedication to providing for his family was a true testament of love. Wilson married Evelyn Blad on August 27, 1948, at the United Brethren Church in Plymouth. Their hearts grew even more as they welcomed their children, Cheryl and Keith. As their family grew, Wilson became a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; still faithfully attending services until his passing.

Through the years, Wilson made countless memories with his family in their many travels. Whether it was camping with the Pathfinders Camping Club or traveling across the entirety of the contiguous United States to see God’s creation, he always had his family by his side. Their journeys also extended overseas to Europe and the Holy Land, as well as trips to Las Vegas and California. Whether traveling or at home, one of Wilson’s favorite places was McDonald’s for a quick meal.

Wilson leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and integrity, grounded in his commitment to family and faith.

Wilson is survived by his wife of 77 years, Evelyn; children Cheryl Inks and Keith Gerrard; grandson, Brandon Inks; along with his nieces and nephews, Jack (Danielle) Sanders, Jerry (Holli) Bickel, and Sandy Madden along with their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Gladys and his siblings, Doris Sanders, Annabel Madden, Nola Holscher, and Henry Gerrard.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 3-5PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 6835 Union Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563. Memorial services will immediately follow at 5PM with Scott Drake and Amy Jackson officiating.

Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
