Madeleine M. Fisher, 91, of rural Palestine

Madeleine M. Fisher, 91, of rural Palestine, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at her residence.

Madeleine was born on Nov. 20, 1933 in rural Palestine, Indiana to the late Harley and Laudice (Altenburg) Boganwright. She married on Feb. 26, 1955 in the Palestine Methodist Church to Harold D. Fisher. They enjoyed 68 years of love before his death on October 31, 2023.

She graduated valedictorian from Mentone High School in 1951. She furthered her education at Ball State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in education in 1955, and later a Master’s degree. She taught Art. P.E., and German through the years at Mentone, Leesburg, Burket, and Triton. After two decades, she left teaching to begin her dream job as Director of the Bell Memorial Public Library. While she enjoyed all aspects of her job, her true joy was working with the Story Hour children, visiting classrooms, and the Summer Reading Club.

She is survived by her daughters Theresa Fisher, Rebecca Fisher, and Heidi Fisher; grandchildren Travis and wife Nicole Fisher, Lauren and husband DJ Cleveland, and Noah Fisher; great grandchildren Addy, Ariel, and Ben.

Madeleine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, brothers Murray and Merlyn, and infant sister Bonnie.

Following her wishes no services will be held at this time.

The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana.
