Lynette K. Brugh  82, of Rochester, passed into the loving arms of Jesus in the late evening hours on July 3, 2026.

A New Years Eve baby, Lynette Kaye Brockey was born on December 31, 1943, at Rochester's Woodlawn Hospital.  She was the treasured daughter of Leonard and Flossie Hounshell Brockey.  Growing up, she shared her childhood with a younger brother Jim.  With great Zebra pride Lynette graduated from Rochester High School with her class of 1962.

After a few years, Lynette returned to school to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher. She peresevered to get her bachelors degree maintaining a perfect balance while raising 3 very active children, and orchestrating time for domestic engineering and her studies.  She graduated from Manchester College and began teaching 3rd grade at Columbia Elementary in Rochester.  She further professionalized herself with earning a master's degree from Indiana University at Kokomo. In her later years she became a member of the 5th grade team at Riddle Elementary, amassing nearly three decades of teaching. Mrs. Brugh was revered by her students not only helping them with academics but life lessons as well.  During her years she mentored many college students during their student teaching, sharing her secrets of motivation and ingredients of success in the classroom.

In the early years Lynette and Jack took their trio Randy, Rick and Trish camping in their camper at Fish-in-Fun Campgrounds situated on the north shore of the Tippecanoe River.  It was here that the kids enjoyed adventures about nature, hiking and floating the river.  They all enjoyed many starlit nights storytelling around the campfire.  There was the annual spring break trip with the teachers to Holden Beach.  Lynette once spent a January term studying the education systems of England and Scotland.

Grandma Net or sometimes referred to as Gram were her most favorite titles.  She was delighted to be known as her grands BIGGEST cheerleader!  She could be seen in the stands at all their athletic events and of course always there at their music programs and academic competitions. Her family was paramount as she looked forward to daily chats with her brother Jim maintaining a close lifelong bond.   Lynette looked forward to making memories celebrating birthdays and other special family events, but her favorite holiday was Christmas.  She was delighted to spend 2 months prior crafting and, in the kitchen, creating many culinary treats that were a family tradition.  Gram was there for her family and was very proud of her legacy overseeing 4 generations.

Lynette is lovingly remembered by her 3 children Randy (Jennifer) Utter, Rick (Teri) Utter and Trisha  (Nick) Roe, all of Rochester, 6 grandchildren Kayla Buckner and companion Casey Grisham, Ryan (Adri) Utter, Austin Utter, Jalin Utter, Grant Roe and Alex Roe, 6 great-grandchildren, a brother Jim (Becky) Brockey of Flower Mound, Texas; 2 nieces Elizabeth Maughon, Rachel Bell and the many students who's lives she touched over the years. 

Preceding Lynette in death are her parents Leonard and Flossie Brockey and the father of her children Jack D. Utter.

Lynette's family wishes to thank the caring giving staff of Wynnfield Crossing and Woodlawn Hospital Hematology for their care and professionalism. Also a HUGE THANK YOU to their Hickory Creek Family for taking excellent care of their mother and taking all of us in as part of your family.   Your love, compassionate care and attention you gave Mom is appreciated and will always be remembered.

A celebration of the life of Lynette K. Brugh will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Mr. John Sult will officiate. 

Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:30 - 7:30 PM at the funeral home and an hour prior to her services on Friday. 

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Legacy Christian Academy, 5288 NOrth Old US 31, Rochester, IN  46975.
