Lyle David Butt, 82, of Frisco, Texas, formerly Akron, IN, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026. Born on October 28, 1944, in Peru, Indiana, Lyle lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and the passions he loved most.
Lyle was a gifted mechanic whose career included owning Lyle & Don’s in Warsaw, Indiana, East Side Service in Mentone, Indiana, and later serving in automotive repair for the Tippecanoe Valley High School Transportation Department. Whether at work or in his own garage, he enjoyed fixing just about anything with an engine.
An avid racing enthusiast, Lyle built race cars and rarely missed an opportunity to follow the sport he loved. He was also a dedicated hunter and gun collector who appreciated the outdoors and the craftsmanship of firearms.
Above all, Lyle was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He never missed one of his children’s ball games, always making family his highest priority. He also proudly served on the Tippecanoe Valley High School Chain Gang for more than 20 years, supporting countless student-athletes and becoming a familiar face on Friday nights.
Lyle is survived by his beloved wife, LaVada Butt; his son, Troy Butt; his daughter, Jill Butt Sawtelle; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Butt.
Lyle will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, love for family, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
