Linda S. Gillman, 75, of rural Akron

Linda S. Gillman, 75, of rural Akron, went home to be with the Lord at 10:25 pm, Friday, July 4, 2025 at her residence.

Linda was born on November 28, 1949 in Buchanan County, Virginia to the late Roscoe and Mary (Lester) Lester. She married on July 7, 1967 in Clintwood, Virginia to her soul mate and best friend Lanny Gillman, he survives her.

She attended Wabash Beauty College and attained her licenses in 1989, which she still holds to this day. Linda worked at Kralis Brothers for USDA as an Inspector. She was an avid mushroom hunter every spring, unless her back pain limited her. She enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales, and eating. She was known to keep her phone close, and called and text numerous family and friends regularly.

Linda was a self proclaimed “motor mouth”. She loved to chat with people and always shared what was on her mind. She enjoyed attending church all around the area. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed helping people in any way she could. She gave blood as often as her health would allow. She also loved family gatherings, and her October Fest was a family and friends favorite with more soup than anyone could eat.

She is survived by her husband Lanny Gillman of Akron; daughters Chris and husband Craig Williamson of Akron, Michelle and husband Mitch Holloway of Mentone, Nicole Wareham of Bourbon, and Andria and husband Matt Smith of Akron; grandchildren Priscilla (Mason), Trenton (Toni), Miranda (Anthony), Logan (Sabrina), Brendan (Keerah), Breylon (Gracelynn), Alexis (Andrew), and Madison (Grant); 7 Great Grandchildren; sisters Florence Whitt of Hurley, Virginia, Donna and husband Bill Gillman of Mentone, Ind., and Rita and husband Walter Charles of Etna Green, Ind.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, brother Danny Ray Lester, and sisters Sherry Jackson, Pamela “Bubbles” Lester, Sharon Lester, and twins Lois Lester and Lillian “EG” Cline.

The funeral service will take place at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana with Pastor Larrie Kreft officiating.

Her interment will take place following the service in Nichols Cemetery, Akron, Indiana.

Visitation hours will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Monday, July 7, 2025 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, Indiana.

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the local animal shelter of your choosing.
