Kevin Duane Irwin, “Big Kevin”, 70, of Tippecanoe

Kevin Duane Irwin, known by closest friends and family as “Big Kevin”, 70 of Tippecanoe, Indiana passed away July 4, 2025, at 7:50 a.m. at his residence.

On April 25, 1955, in Plymouth, Indiana he was born to Gerald W. Irwin and Lola J. (King) Irwin. He was the fourth child born out of seven children. He’s lived in Marshall County all of his life. He attended Argos High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. While at Argos he was very involved with the FFA, 4-H and was a member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship and served as President for one year. He was also a member of the Singing Sixteen Choir.

After high school he joined his father and helped run Irwin Construction. Together they built several beautiful houses around Argos and remodeled many in the surrounding areas. Kevin also obtained his Auctioneer’s License.

On August 14, 1976, he married MaDonna Hensley. They had four children and together they shared the next 49 years and raised their kids up in the Triton school district.

In the 80’s, Kevin became an active member of the Coon Hunter’s Association and together with his father-in-law, Jim, and brother-in-law, Bobby, kept the risk of raccoon overpopulation very minimal. They received many trophies and had some of the best hunting dogs around. Kevin also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, especially with his sons and last season bagged a beautiful 12 point buck. Kevin also loved the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Bears and ND football. He was also a huge Ryan Newman NASCAR fan.

Over the years Kevin worked for Irwin Construction, Fairmont Homes, Plymouth Lumber Company but most recently he worked for his brother-in-law and recently retired from Hensley and Son Concrete. Kevin was very close to his wife’s family and he was like another brother. Madonna came from a large family with six siblings as well.

Kevin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Argos, Indiana.

Kevin is survived by his Wife – MaDonna Irwin of Tippecanoe, Indiana

Children – Lalena Cook and husband Ben of Etna Green, Indiana; “Little” Kevin Mitchell Irwin of Tippecanoe, Indiana; Jason James Irwin and wife Candice of Bourbon, Indiana; and Whitney Irwin of Wabash, Indiana

17 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren

Sisters – Cindy Taber and husband Richard of Argos, Indiana; and Sandra K. Irwin-Stiles of Plymouth, Indiana

Brothers – Terry Irwin and wife Kathy of Straughn, Indiana; James Irwin and wife Sue of Plymouth, Indiana; and Kenneth Irwin (Carmen) of Bourbon, Indiana

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Brother – John Irwin, and 2 Preborn Infant grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday July 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ, 15676 Michigan Rd., Argos, Indiana. 

Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. James Snyder. Burial will follow at the Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, Indiana.
