George Wayne Wathen, 73, Rochester, passed away at 5:29 A.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Stillwater Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on September 12, 1952 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of George Washington and Marie DeVerl (Colvin) Wathen.
On October 15, 1976 in London, Kentucky, he married Evelyn Cheek and she survives.
Wayne had worked as copier technician for many years for Ikon Office Solutions. He was a member of the Rochester Church of God and enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wathen, Rochester, Indiana, sons, Adam (Heather) Wathen, Rochester, Indiana, Steven (Misty) Wathen, Knox, Indiana, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, siblings, Jerry Wathen, South Carolina, Pam (John) Lockwood, Tennessee, Kevin (Kay) Wathen, Tennessee, Linda (Jerry) Thomas, Michigan City, Indiana, Robin Bruckman, Tennessee, Mike (Sherry) Wathen, Indiana, step siblings, Kim Burge, Rob Burge, Tennessee, Rosanna McDonald, Kentucky, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Gene Burge, step-mother, Wanda Wathen, brother-in-law, Lee Bruckman, step brothers, David Hill, Jerry Burge and Allen Burge.
