Gary Owen Leed Jr., age 72, of Teegarden, Indiana, passed away on September 1, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1953, in Bremen, Indiana, and lived a life marked by simple pleasures, strong roots, and the quiet joys of the outdoors.
Gary was the son of the late Gerhart Leed and the late Mildred (Griggs) Leed. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Dyer. He is survived by his daughters, Tandy (David) Pea and Amelia (Ryan) Lichtenbarger; his sisters, Lori (Joe) Manning and Brenda Leed; his brother, Mark (Angela) Leed; and his beloved grandchildren, Colton, Dyllan, Jacob, Karson, Ivory, Marc, Marissa, Xander, and Syrus. His family will remember him with love and gratitude for the place he held in their lives.
Gary attended Lakeville High School and later spent his early years working in the RV manufacturing industry. He was known for being practical, hardworking, and comfortable with hands-on work. He took pride in staying busy and in doing things his own way, and he carried that steady spirit throughout his life.
He loved spending time at Potato Creek, where he enjoyed fishing, driving around, and taking in the wildlife. Gary was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in nature and especially enjoyed deer hunting. You could also catch him in the springtime looking for morel mushrooms. He also liked wrenching on cars, and he could often be found working with his hands on something that needed attention. These interests brought him joy and reflected the straightforward, independent way he lived.
Those who knew Gary will remember his quiet presence, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the familiar routines that brought him comfort. He valued the simple things in life and found contentment in familiar places, good weather, and time spent doing what he enjoyed. His memory will remain with those who knew him, especially in the stories shared and the moments remembered with affection.
A time to visit with the family will be on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. A service will begin at 3 p.m. all being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Plymouth Chapel, 300 W. Madison St. Plymouth, IN 46563. A private burial will take place at a later date at Fair Cemetery in North Liberty, IN.
